Saputara has long been one of Gujarat’s most loved hill destinations, known for its cool climate, green mountains, scenic valleys and peaceful atmosphere. Located in the Dang district of South Gujarat, the hill station sits at an elevation of around 1,000 metres above sea level in the Sahyadri range. It is officially recognised as Gujarat’s only hill station and has become an important destination for nature lovers and weekend travellers.

Development Adds a New Dimension to Saputara Tourism

The development of Sunset Point is part of a broader trend of improving tourist infrastructure in Saputara. Gujarat Tourism has invested in facilities around the hill station, including development around Saputara Lake, where projects have included musical fountains, an amphitheatre, adventure facilities and boating infrastructure.

Such improvements can encourage tourists to spend more time exploring different parts of the destination instead of visiting only the main lake area.

A new or improved viewpoint can therefore become an additional stop in a Saputara itinerary. Visitors can combine the sunset experience with sightseeing, boating, nature walks and visits to other attractions in and around the hill station.

Saputara’s Natural Setting

The beauty of Sunset Point cannot be separated from the larger natural environment of Saputara. The hill station is surrounded by the forests and mountains of the Dang region.

Gujarat Tourism describes Saputara as being nestled in the Sahyadris or Western Ghats, with green valleys and a cool climate. The region is also known for its forests, waterfalls and biodiversity.

During the monsoon, the landscape becomes especially attractive. Rainfall covers the hills in fresh greenery, streams become active and waterfalls in the surrounding region become more impressive.

This makes Sunset Point more than simply a place to watch the sun. It is also a viewpoint from which visitors can appreciate the natural character of South Gujarat.
